ThermoLo® Pre- and Post-Treatment Instructions

Pre-treatment instructions

  • Avoid excessive sun exposure or tanning bed for at least two weeks prior to treatment.
  • Stop using retinoids, acids (glycolic, salicylic, etc), and other exfoliating/irritating skincare agents 1-2 days prior to treatment.
  • Avoid tweezing, waxing, or other peel/laser treatment in the treatment area for 5-7 days prior to your session.

Post-treatment instructions

  • Immediately after treatment, ice packs and/or Caladryl lotion may be applied to reduce swelling and redness. It is normal for the area to feel like a sunburn for a few hours.
  • Avoid any trauma for 48 hours such as exercise, swimming pool, shaving, hot water, etc.
  • The area may scab, DO NOT pick! This will lead to scarring. Just allow it to naturally fall off within a few days. You may apply aloe for irritation and Aquaphor or Silver Gel if crusting occurs.
  • Makeup may be used once the swelling is resolved. Fresh mineral makeup applied with clean hands or freshly washed brushes is recommended to reduce infection risk.
  • You may shower in warm (not hot!) water. If extensive work was done in an area, cover with Vaseline or Aquaphor during the shower and wash off with cool water afterwards. Skin should be pat dry, not rubbed.
  • Slight redness and/or bruising may occur and generally resolves in 5-7 days.
  • Avoid direct sun exposure for two weeks post treatment and always use sunscreen with SPF 30+
  • Wait to schedule any laser, peel, wax, etc in the area until 2 weeks post-treatment.
  • If leg vessels were treated, wear compression socks for 24 hours post-treatment and during the day for 2 weeks thereafter.
