Platelet Derived Growth Factor Pre- and Post-Treatment Instructions
Pre-treatment:
Avoid taking any anti-inflammatory medication such as Aspirin, Advil, Ibuprofen, Naproxen, Aleve, Meloxicam, etc 5-7 days prior to your procedure. Plan on also trying to avoid these medications for at least one week after treatment, but ideally up to 3-4 weeks.
Avoid other supplements that reduce inflammation such as Tumeric/Curcumin, Arnica, Ginko Biloba, etc both before and after treatment for best results.
24 hours prior to the procedure, try and hydrate well in order to assist with ease of the blood draw.
Be prepared for possibly bruising, swelling, redness, and mild discomfort at the injection site. Try to use Tylenol as needed for discomfort.
Post-treatment:
You may ice as needed for swelling or discomfort. Do not ice for more than 15 minutes at a time.
Avoid makeup over the treatment sites for a minimum of 24 hours.
No vigorous exercise is recommended for 2-3 days post treatment.
Continue to hold all anti-inflammatory medications post treatment for up to 3-4 weeks to maximize results. If analgesia is required, try to take Tylenol as a first line medication. If an anti-inflammatory medication must be used, there will be no significant ill effects, it potentially may lessen the results. Use the lowest dose necessary. Smoking and poor nutrition will also effect results from treatment.
